Emily
EMILY AS THE TRACES OF AN APPETIZER
Her salt
is depth
& beneath
her olive
freckling
& it takes
the con-
text
of the sun
to crush
her pinks
into browns
& it doesn’t
matter
if the world
is a cracker
for Emily
to decorate,
delicious.
EMILY AS MANY ACTS OF LOCATION
I put the stones in my mouth
to make a point
about Emily
& I went swimming
with those stones in my mouth
to make a point
to Samantha #2 about Emily
& then I realized
there has never been a point
where I wasn’t an asshole.
EMILY AS ALL OF THE WILD DOGS
Have you ever been that motherfucker
that saw a whole nation of animals
decide your fate, decide
with dozens of teeth that
they prefer to use their tongue?
Emily was meant to shred me
in an inelegant display. She was
meant to make a point with my body
& yet, there has been very little blood.
